we&#8217;re used to reaching for. Pineapple skin tea is one of my favorite examples of this kind of kitchen wisdom because it&#8217;s easy to make, accessible, and supportive.</p><p>The skin of a fresh pineapple contains trace amounts of bromelain, a naturally occurring enzyme found in pineapples that is widely studied for its role in supporting digestion and the body&#8217;s natural inflammatory response. While bromelain is most concentrated in fresh pineapple (and is sensitive to heat), the peel still offers digestive support especially when paired with grounding spices.</p><p>I tend to brew this when my digestion feels slow or heavy, or when my body is sore from movement. </p><p>The full recipe including measurements, dosing guidance, best time of day to drink it, and how to use this tea to support digestion and post-workout soreness, is shared below for paid subscribers.</p><p><em>Kitchen Notes</em> is where food becomes practice, and practice becomes ritual. href="https://calendly.com/vicstyles/conversation">Care Protocol</a> for a friend who&#8217;s on a weight loss journey, I knew I needed to step away and tend to myself. Today has been one of those blurry, fast-moving days&#8212;the kind where time slips out from under you. I hadn&#8217;t eaten anything yet, and my body was starting to ask for something grounding.</p><p>I decided to make a salad. Simple. Quick. But once I finished, it felt too beautiful to keep to myself. Too vibrant to just die in the graveyard of IG stories. So here we are&#8212;me sharing my midday salad with all of you.</p><div><hr></div><p><strong>What&#8217;s in it:</strong></p><ul><li><p>1.5 cups of steamed kale</p></li><li><p>1 cup of chickpeas (I used dried, soaked overnight + boiled with sea salt for an hour, but canned works too)</p></li><li><p>1 cup of cannellini beans</p></li><li><p>1/4 cup purple onion, finely chopped</p></li><li><p>1/4 cup sprouted sunflower seeds</p></li><li><p>1/2 cucumber, sliced</p></li><li><p>1 green apple, chopped</p></li><li><p>Himalayan pink salt to taste</p></li><li><p>Black pepper to taste</p></li><li><p>2 tablespoons cold-pressed olive oil</p></li><li><p>A drizzle of agave (optional, for balance)</p></li><li><p>1 capful of <a href="https://glnk.io/zl6vl/thevicstyles">The Viridem Elixir</a> by Anima Mundi</p></li><li><p>2 tablespoons of Bragg&#8217;s Apple Cider Vinegar (the honey cayenne cleanse)</p></li></ul><p><em>Mix everything in a large bowl, take a breath, and enjoy.</em></p><div><hr></div><p><strong>Let&#8217;s talk about why this salad is more than just pretty.</strong></p><p>I steamed the kale because while raw kale <em>looks</em> good on camera, it can be a bit harsh on our digestion. Steaming helps to soften its fibers, making it easier for our bodies to absorb its rich nutrients without doing too much work.</p><p>The chickpeas and cannellini beans are here for grounding. Protein, fiber, and that creamy, hearty balance that makes the salad feel like a meal and not a side.</p><p>The sunflower seeds add texture <em>and</em> support your hormones&#8212;they&#8217;re rich in magnesium, selenium, and vitamin E. The apple adds sweetness and crunch, while also helping with blood sugar balance. </p><p>And then there&#8217;s the <a href="https://glnk.io/zl6vl/thevicstyles">Viridem Elixir</a>: a deep detoxifier and gentle ally for the liver. I like to describe it as plant medicine in its softest form&#8212;quietly working in the background to help your body do what it&#8217;s meant to do.</p><p>And Bragg&#8217;s? She&#8217;s the queen of cleansing. The honey-cayenne blend adds a tiny kick and supports digestion, circulation, and clarity. It&#8217;s the thing you don&#8217;t know you need in a salad until it hits your tongue.</p><div><hr></div><p><strong>Why I love this bowl:</strong><br>It&#8217;s light but filling. It&#8217;s energizing without being overwhelming. It&#8217;s the kind of thing that leaves you glowing, not just full. It also happens to be vegan, anti-inflammatory, and rich in fiber and plant-based protein.</p><p>But more than that, it reminded me that nourishment doesn&#8217;t have to be complicated or curated.
